In this North Shore project, my clients absolutely love to entertain but felt like their home design was keeping them from fully enjoying their space. They could never take advantage of their gorgeous built-in pool during their holiday gatherings because of a segmented room layout that kept the pool area hidden from view. To top it all off, they lacked a space large enough for their whole family to enjoy a holiday meal together.

Our Process & Solutions
We began by working closely with an architect to remove the walls that separated the main living room from the kitchen, which gave the space an open flow with clear sight lines right to their backyard. As a result, the open space glows with natural light.

Relocating the back entry into the yard and widening the opening also invited a smoother passage from inside to the pool area. We also relocated the stairs to the basement for better flow because they were notorious for creating traffic jams at the entrances and doorways.

Moving into the kitchen, we added significant counter space to increase functionality while still offering enough space and seating for guests to relax comfortably. And since our clients love to bake, we created a designed baking area so they could prep delicious pastries while continuing to entertain their guests.
